I first became interested in all things retro and vintage probably 4 years ago, when I was about 14 years old. I saw a fabulous swing band at a beautiful ballroom and was immediately hooked. The dancers were all dolled up and tore across the floor, hopping like mad. I needed some of that!
I stumbled across The Café @ Port Halcyon last year, and I'm sure glad I did! I met loads of great people and learnt a helluva lot of things regarding a retro lifestyle.
I now regularly trail the charity shops and frequent antiques fairs—people know me by my seamed stockings now! Sometimes I even get special treatment—paying for things in shops is not a problem anymore, as I can do it in installments or often get money off!
The pin-up style photos of me were taken at my boyfriend's house, a 1930's semi, and it was his photography skills that made the pics!
I quite enjoyed doing these photos—it was fun, really. I had my doubts to begin with, but then I thought "what the hell!" Now, I feel much better for doing them. I've been a pin-up!
Cheers!
