Café Chat

April of '05…wishing it were '45

By Prof. Horatio P. Horsefeathers

Heigh-ho, and welcome to Café Chat, number 8, where we expose a few of the rackets and gang-ups of the Port's raison d'etre—yes, the Café!

The month started when, quite innocently, a "simple question" prompted a certain twister_lover to inquire about encountering (and spying) an old flame in the place. After a somewhat heated argument over spying and past lovers, it turned out to be Kit Kat that this "twisted lover" was after, or at least that's what I like to think. True, these two met each other in New Joisey, but what goes beyond that stayed in lengthy private message conversations between the two…or so my contacts tell me.

Now that's a WELCOME!

Perhaps the biggest shocker that occurred within the merry month of March was the complete and near-sudden revamp of the Café itself. The friendly old blue and yellow (which was once brown and tan during the Atomic era) was merged with the rest of the site, and despite the new furniture and trimmings, not everyone was happy with the change. Some people didn't like it at all, others loved it, but no matter what they say, the new Café is here to stay (if you'll excuse the cliché). Personally, I don't mind the new look, as long as it has the same people (speaking of which, has anyone seen The Wingnut lately?)

After the revamp, there was a brief lull in activity in the Café, but that didn't mean people didn't have any fun. In late March, several of our regular patrons (including members of the Café Brit-Pack) attended the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender. I'd give a detailed account if I could, but apparently—as GirlieGirl put it—"what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas."

(I may have not written a report, but several of the attendees did…look here!)

Last but not least, I'll give a (belated) welcome to new members tintan805, adam12ohio, VinylGuy8, lurker Brrlgrrl, Bombshellbeauty and LaDivina.

This was Prof. Horatio Horsefeathers saying farewell for now and remember—It is only at my place that Rice Krispies really do snap, crackle and pop.

Abbysinia!
