Hear ye! Hear ye Mr. and Mrs. Port Halcyon! Welcome to the return of Café Chat, where we bring up the highlights of the Port's most distinguished feature—the Café.
February has been a relatively placid month, with nary a tangle to be found. The month ended with retrogirl's involvement—and subsequent victory—in an online Pin-up contest, bringing the acclaim of the Port's gents (as well as a few howls) and the ladies' admiration.The competition was nothing short of tight, but in the end, the Port's favorite pin-up gal won by a sound margin with 36% of the votes. Congratulations, Amanda! (In addition to winning the contest, she was also the first recipient of CharlieH.'s Wolf "E" Award. Hopefully, there'll be more.)
In other news, people have initially heard rumors about Lindy Laura sizzling for the local Swingdrummer. Well, guess what? They handcuffed, and it seems like a match made in heaven, judging by the frequently posted accounts and pictures. A singer and a drummer...it was meant to happen!
Speaking of romance, February brings that much loved/hated Valentine's Day and many residents celebrated it in a simple, yet charming, manner. Noteworthy would be Jay taking fairyprintsets out for dinner, Spitfire watching a Pepe LePew marathon with the family, and TheItGirl watching Deadwood with her husband. As she put it, "Sometimes the simple things are best." And just for the record, msbettyfinn happened to post one of the eeriest Valentine's Day cards I've seen in my life!
In other news, Just before January was over, we heard great news about the birth of waynelee and angelaray's new son Jacob Ethan. As if that wasn't thrilling enough, Spitfire announced that she's expecting another baby. Congratulations to y'all!
It's interesting to note that such happy news prompted a bit of existential talk amongst some townspeople, specifically, on the subject of having kids (or not). I guess Remey688 said it best when he stated "The Reward of Parenthood is becoming grandparent(s)."
Finally, we have a few new members this season, such as epicurean-absurdist Remey688 and Fedora Chronicles bigwig Renderking Fisk. Others include Meredith Valentine, flat-top, Boomer, swingkathep2boot and Michaelson. A not-so-new member would be feral, who came with us during the ATOMIC era as Red_Hot_Riding_Hood. To all of you, a belated welcome!
