The weather’s gone cool, the straw hats and white shoes are retired for the season...tweed is back, and so is the Café Chat!

The end of summer (in the northern hemisphere) has brought no end of conversation, except on topics of US politics. Everyone who misses THAT, stand on your heads! Things have been a sight more civil of late, with many discussion centered on outings and events.

Jet-setting gadabout zootsuitcoot joined the California contingent for The Gatsby Picnic, hosted by the San Francisco Art Deco Society. The photos are stunning, especially those featuring Wingnut and retrokitten, who were narrowly beaten in the fashion contest by some ice-cream wielding Philistines. So much for avoiding discussion of politics!

Our peninsula-pals Marlowe and Dr. Swankenstein have managed to stay afloat through two powerful hurricanes that ravaged Florida and the surrounding areas. Glad you pulled through, mates! Of course these storms may have influenced retroruby66 to change her destination to Texas. Happy Trails, m’dear!

Lost Soul
Lost Soul
New jobs and birthdays are in vogue of late…congratulations to Kit Kat and strangekat on their new careers. If anyone else named “…kat” is out there and looking for a new venue, now seems to be the time! Celebrating one more spin around the sun are too many members to name, but from one Virgo to another, many happy returns to all of you! On a more somber note, we offer condolences to Charlie H. upon the passing of his grandmother. Requiescat en pace, grandma.

From the ashes of those who are gone come new friends; we’ve found a Lost Soul from the UK, met a stand-up gal in uprightbassgirl1, enjoyed a brief visit from a Ukrainian Lady who appears to be the real “lost soul”, and swelled the ranks of our swell retro housewives with prolific new friends Mimi and Spitfire Mk VII. Welcome all!

That’s a wrap for this edition of Café Chat…do stop into The Café @ Port Halcyon and see what all the fun is about.

À bientôt,
